These days I'm happy if I get one blogpost a week up! Life has been so busy. But I guess that's what your early 30s are for, right? Proving yourself, hustling, always trying to have more hours in your day? Work is challenging, managing multiple projects at once and still developing my capabilities in SPSS and statistics, working long days. But I always want to make the most of our free time. Cooking together, reading, socializing with my friends, making little trips on the weekends... But also discovering cool new stores, like Passi Passé in Sint Niklaas!

I rarely stumble upon a (concept) store that so fully appeals to my aesthetic in our little - but proud - Waasland capital, but Passi Passé is it. Right from its colourful, affordable selection of clothes to its vintage inspired interior and 60s-70s rock playlist, I knew this store would become a favourite of mine when I stepped in. This periwinkle, synchronized swimmer print dress was love at first sight, obviously! I evoked its vintage vibe by pairing it with red lips, mules and cat eye sunglasses, but I also added a more trendy accent in the form of this belt bag. Ever since last summer I have been obsessed with belt bags because they are the perfect mix of ugly and humorous and practical, and this pale pink one is just totally adorable. Carrie Bradshaw would approve.

 Hope you like the look!

Wishlist: summer feelings

hat: Forever21 - hoodie: c/o Shein - shorts: Bershka - sunglasses: c/o Shein

Hi babes! The weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS for the past week or so, and I am 100% in summer mood. What better time to post a little summer inspo wishlist? I ordered this California 1987 crop sweater on Shein because hello it's my birth year and my favourite road trip destination in a perfect Baywatch type hoodie situation, how could I resist - and I couldn't help spotting a few cute pieces along the way. Enjoy!

from top left:

My favourites are definitely the striped skirt, the cat eye sunnies and the white wrap dress. I absolutely do not need anything new in my closet, but another pair of sunglasses only takes up little space and makes for a perfect finishing touch to any outfit... Perfect impulse buy when you feel like celebrating the arrival of summer with a little something. And nothing makes me feel gorgeous like a feminine wrap dress. Hope you like my picks! ;-)

Hi babes! We've just turned our back on an extended weekend with, sadly, super crappy weather, so let's enjoy a throwback to the night we spent at Hotel Franq a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful venue, my favourite Belgian city and weather that felt like high summer - heaven. Also, because the hotel provided such stunning backdrops, I took full advantage of that by making frequent outfit changes, swanning around in my vintage Dolce & Gabbana (finally found an occasion to wear it!) and Laura Ashley dresses. Enjoy!

Hi babes! We've been struggling to recover from a family-sized serving of the flu over here, and things have been hectic at work - what else is new, right? Well, this blog post is new! Some pictures from our third and final day in London, when the sun finally broke through the clouds and we explored our way from Westminster to Covent Garden. Enjoy!

We had seen much of Westminster already on Thursday, but since the weather was so gorgeous, everything looked more beautiful and we stopped every few steps to marvel at the views and snap some last pictures.

Beauty: Clinique Marimekko collection review

Hey babes! Today I will be showing you the beautiful new Marimekko for Clinique collection. The line boasts some of Clinique's existing Pop Splash lip glosses and Clinique Pop lip colour/primers in collectible tubes featuring Marimekko's signature bright, playful designs, retailing at €22. I received five press samples, and even though the colours and formulas aren't new, I haven't tried these myself so I will be reviewing them for you. A bit of sunshine on a cold winter's day - enjoy!

Wishlist: spring footwear trends

Hi babes! As I'm writing this, it is Sunday night and the end of a gorgeously sunny, surprisingly warm winter weekend, I'm soooo ready for spring. I'm basically dreaming of airy dresses, sandals and soft serve ice cream, but it all seems so far away still. Especially since the "upcoming trips" tab in my Airbnb profile is 100% empty right now - so depressing. Once you start travelling, you really start living from trip to trip because those moments (to me at least) are like a concentrated dose of everything that makes life worth living, to hype you up enough to get through the daily grind.

There are upsides, though! Next weekend I'm meeting up with my besties to start planning our California road trip which I'm sooooo psyched for, and I just received the new Schoenen Torfs Choez magazine in the mail (available online here), which I contributed to by writing up some style tips for spring 2018.

Travel: Carnaby street and Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre

Time for a second post on our weekend in London, featuring our second day in the city. As I mentioned in my first post, we didn't have a clear itinerary of what to do and see on every day, but there were some shops we wanted to check out (Dr. Martens specifically), so after a short underground trip + some walking, we found ourselves on Carnaby street, which ended up being one of my favourite parts of the whole London trip. Definitely the place where you can get a whiff of the swinging sixties, with little Mod stores offering bright tailored suits, but also an abundance of trendy new places to check out!

Hey babes! As I told you last week, we had planned a weekend in London to go see Hamilton (omg) and get to know the city a little bit better. It had been ages since I had really visited London, and my boyfriend had never even been there so we were pretty unprepared. I had booked us a sweet little Airbnb 10 minutes on foot from the Victoria underground station, so we were ideally positioned to explore the center of London. We arrived on Friday morning, after taking the Eurostar from Brussels, and stayed until Sunday late afternoon. Plenty of time to get reacquainted! This post will feature the pictures we took around the city of Westminster

Since my sister and her boyfriend came with us, we had the chance to take a whole lot of corny couple pictures without having to bother strangers or resort to selfies, so enjoy!

PS: I am in utter love with this rainbow sweater after searching for one all winter, so happy I finally found my perfect Sesame Street bright knit by Only, via Zalando. I had it express-delivered to be able to take it with me to London, woops!

Travel: the Eiffel tower and a red beret

I think this is my fifth blogpost set in Paris, crazy to think that before late 2016, I'd never even visited the city of love. I'm happy that changed, because it has become one of my favourite destinations for a quick getaway filled with beauty, good food and lots of walking. We snuck off for a weekend in the city center just before Christmas, and it was just what the doctor ordered: a break from the daily grind and some quality time to be spent with my love.

I already blogged about the first two days, and this post features the pics we took when we stopped by the Eiffel tower just before heading home. Get yourself a guy who will make an hour-long detour before a 3h drive just so you can see the Eiffel tower again. The pics were totally worth it, though, we were blessed with a chilly but mostly clear day and I was wearing a super cute (Christmassy) outfit so everything was working for me.

Btw, just before checking out we had brunch at Benedict in Le Marais: total recommendation. Friendly, attractive staff, truffle fries and delicious variations on my fav breakfast dish: eggs benedict. Bookmark that shit! And enjoy the pics.

Giveaway: e-Polette blue light filter glasses

Hi babes! Raise your hand if you have a job where you spent most of your day staring at screens. Yep, technology is basically the best thing ever if you ask me, but it also means being stuck at your desk, developing eye strain and headaches that make it hard to perform at your best capacity. If all of this sounds familiar, I have three tips for you:

- use the 20-20-20 rule, which means that every 20 minutes you should give your eyes a break by focusing on something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This is an optician's tip to prevent tired eyes
- invest in a matte screen, set it at a brightness that is similar to the light level of your current surroundings, and use the blue light filter that most devices come with these days when it starts getting late
- if all else fails, get yourself some prescription eye-drops and try out glasses that filter blue light out. Like these e-Polette Joplin glasses I'm wearing today.

Interested? I'm giving away a pair of e-glasses (without prescription lenses) today. You can choose the frames yourself from Polette's e-polette range - worth a try, right?

All you have to do is:
- follow Polette on instagram (@poletteeyewear)
- follow me on instagram (@stylingdutchman)
- leave a comment or email me at thestylingdutchman@hotmail.com, mentioning your instagram handle and the e-polette frame you'd like to win

and that's it! I will pick a winner  on the 28th of January, 8pm. Good luck!

Beauty: Urban Decay Heavy Metal palette review

Beauty: Urban Decay Heavy Metal palette review

Hi babes! Time for another beauty review. A little late, because this palette is a holiday release by Urban Decay, but things have been crazy busy and I have seen this palette still on sale everywhere so I bet someone will find this useful!

The Heavy Metal palette is quintessential Urban Decay: the shimmers, the brights and the statement packaging. But is it a must have for you? Let's find out.

Hi darlings! Happy New Year! I had an extra day off today, and I made the most of it by basically doing as little as possible. I cleaned up a bit after having over the in-laws for New Year's, but I spent 90% of my time reading a book and napping on the couch. There's something extra sweet about having a day off when everyone's back to work, you know?

We have another busy month ahead of us at the office, so what better time to reminisce a bit more about our little Parisian getaway? Today's pics were all shot mid-december when we arrived in Paris on a sunny, cold afternoon. We spent our evening like we generally do when we travel: walking around for hours on end, going where our feet take us, talking, stopping for food/drinks and taking pictures. Despite wearing a bunch of layers here, I was still quite cold. Should have worn a longer coat but once in a while I let style prevail over function. What better place to be cold but stylish than Paris, right? And I really liked taking these red tights out for a spin again. At least my head was nice and toasty with my faux leather cap. Featured in this blogpost: cute streets in le Marais, the Nôtre-Dame de Paris, the BHV Marais, the Seine and some bars. Enjoy the pics!
